If your domain name is registered through WordPress.com and you use Mailchimp then you must authenticate your domain to get better email delivery rates. Authenticating your domain will ensure that more of your email marketing messages get to your contacts inbox (as opposed to going directly to the spam or junk folders).
How to Add Your Own Mailchimp Authentication
- Copy the authentication information per the instructions at Mailchimp.
- Add the SPF and DKIM records (they are really TXT and CNAME records you’re adding) to your WordPress.com hosted domain (see instructions at WordPress.com).
- Wait 48 hours and check that all is o.k. by clicking “Authenticate Domain” per instructions at Mailchimp.
How to Get Help With Adding Mailchimp Authentication
If you are unfamiliar with adding DNS records then it may be best to ask your I.T. person for assistance.
- Copy the authentication information per the instructions at Mailchimp.
- Send the information as copied above to your I.T./Website/Email support person and ask them to add the records for you to your domain.
- Once your IT/Website/Email person have confirmed that they have completed the tasks then check that all is o.k. by clicking “Authenticate Domain” after 48 hours per the advice at Mailchimp.
Authenticating your domain is a once-off task and you wont need to repeat the process.
