I get asked very often how a survey can be inserted into an email campaign. There are various options.
Mailchimp Allows for Inserting a Survey, but It Doesn’t Work
In the new Mailchimp email builder, there is a survey content block. Once you use the block, you’ll notice that a button link to a Mailchimp survey is added to your email marketing campaign. The survey itself isn’t embedded into the message. Whilst it doesn’t seem obvious, there is no means to insert a survey into a Mailchimp email campaign.
Can I Insert a Typeform or Surveymonkey Survey in Mailchimp?
Many of my clients use either Typeform or Surveymonkey to create surveys (no, Surveymonkey and Mailchimp are not related). Because of email restrictions, it is not possible to embed full forms from these, or any, providers into email. Typeform and Surveymonkey allow for the first question of your survey to be embedded in a Mailchimp email. Once a subscriber answers the first question, they are directed to the online survey where they may fill the remaining questions. This great workaround makes it simpler for the recipient to start filling out your survey.
Instructions to Insert a Typeform Survey into Mailchimp
In the video above, I show how to use Typeform and insert the first question of a form into a Mailchimp email campaign.
Time needed: 3 minutes
The instructions below illustrate the code that needs to be removed the Typeform provided share code so that your first survey question shows in a Mailchimp email campaign.
- Copy the code from Typeform
Publish your Typeform form and click Share (near the top of the screen). Click Launch in an email then Get the code. Click Copy code.
- Remove unnecessary HTML
Paste the copied code into a text editor. Look for
<div class="mail-wrapper" style="">
and delete everything before<div class="mail-wrapper" style="">
. Look for and delete</body></html>
.
