Mailchimp allows a very useful feature called Merge Tags. Merge Tags are a means of inserting data from our subscribers list into a Campaign (a Campaign is the email newsletter that is sent to your subscribers). This is extremely useful for personalising Campaigns such as inserting the recipients first name into the email.
But what if we don’t have the first name (or any other data where we’re using a Merge Tag) of all recipients. Can merge tags still be used effectively? Fortunately it’s really simple to set a default value for a field so that the default value shows for the merge tag if data don’t exist for that subscriber in your List.
