How to remove the link underline in Mailchimp

If your sent Mailchimp email campaigns show an underline under each hyperlink then you may want to remove this text decoration. I’ve recently been asked by numerous of my Mailchimp class attendees how to stop the underline from showing.

Instructions to remove the Mailchimp hyperlink underline

There are two ways to remove a hyperlink underline from your Mailchimp email campaigns. The method you choose depends on whether you want all hyperlink underlines removed or whether you only want the underline removed for a specific link.

Remove the underline for all links

To remove the underline for all links then follow the following steps.

  1. In Mailchimp go into the campaign builder as if you’re designing/creating your email campaign.
  2. To the top left of the screen click Style.
  3. Click Body.
  4. Scroll down to the section called Body Link.
  5. Under Styles click the underline icon so that it is no longer selected.
  6. Click Save.

Remove the underline for a specific link

To remove the underline for one specific hyperlink then follow these steps.

  1. In Mailchimp go into the campaign builder as if you’re designing/creating your email campaign.
  2. Click the text block where the link is that you don’t want underlined.
  3. Click the Source () icon.
  4. Add style=”text-decoration: none;” to the link HTML; for example if your link looks like
    <a href="https://organicweb.com.au">how to use MailChimp</a>

    then change it to

    <a href="https://organicweb.com.au" style="text-decoration: none;">how to use MailChimp</a>.
  5. Save your changes.

The underline now won’t show for that specific hyperlink.

Hi Gary, are you aware if you can change the text formatting on rss items? eg the article headline comes through as CAPS and I want to change it to proper case.

Hi Andrew, without custom coding a template for Mailchimp you won’t be able to do what you want in a Mailchimp email. The simplest will be to ensure that the case is correct in the RSS feed itself.
