Why Mailchimp Automation is sending to the wrong contacts

Mailchimp Mascot, FreddieDo you plan on setting up a welcome series automation in Mailchimp? The welcome workflow is extremely popular for two reasons; it is incredibly effective in getting subscriber engagement and is just so simple to setup. There is however something very important to know before making your automation active.

Will the welcome email send to existing list contacts?

The welcome email series automation is based on the date that your contacts subscribed. The first message in the series will only send to subscribers added after you start creating the automation. This means that if we create and start the welcome series automation right now then existing contacts won’t be sent the first email in the workflow.

What to be careful of when creating the welcome automation in Mailchimp

Because the workflow calculates who to send to based on when you create the welcome series there can be issues if you keep the workflow in draft. If, for example, you create the workflow today and only activate it in a month then all people added to your list from today will be sent the first email in the automation.

The best, and safest, means of avoiding issues is to create and active your welcome series automation in quick succession.

    g’day Gary,

great stuff! Maybe you can help with my question?

i have different groups to my list (1 to download a free e-book and other for services) and i set them all to send welcome e-mail for the e-book and for some one who subcribe for one of those different services

my friend tried a test to subcribe for the free e-book; he gets the free e-book but also the welcome e-mail for all the other different services. what I do not want. I want him to just receive the free ebook.

do you know what goes wrong? is the best way so solve that issue? and immediately and automatically after people will fill up the form receive Only those emails? i mean if some one suscribe for the free ebook he only receives the free e-book only that?

    thanks man

    take care

      Hi Mani,
Have you added segmentation to your campaign so that it sends only to the desired people?
