Fix Google Calendar showing wrong times

If you view multiple calendars in your Google Calendar (also called Gmail Calendar), you may have a problem whereby the time of events from a shared calendar are wrong. This is really frustrating but fortunately really simple to resolve.

The reason that this problem occurs is that your calendar timezone setting may be incorrect. Follow the instructions below to fix this issue:

  1. In a web browser open your Google Calendar.
  2. Click the Settings icon to the top right of the screen.
  3. Click Settings in the drop-down menu.
  4. Change Country and Your current time zone to your details.
  5. Click Save.

That’s all there is to it. Your shared calendar entries will now display the date and time of events correctly.

I live in an area of Canada where we don’t change our time. With the time change everyone just had, my Chrome history and my gmail refuse to change as per above. I had this happen last year as well and tried everything.

How about when you fly and different flights originate in different time zones. Expedia’s email gives the correct flight time for departures, but Google will always get only the flights in one time zone correct, for the other flights they give you the flight time not at the airport but in a different time zone.

So I book a flight from New Orleans to Krakow, the first flight departs New Orleans at 11:45pm New Orleans time the second flight departs Frankfurt at 9:55pm Frankfirt time. That’s what Expedia emails me. But Google changes either the 11:45pm or the 9:55 flight time, depending on what time zone you enter. This problem has been raised for years. I guess Google has reached that stage Microsoft entered, still successful but no longer capable of fixing itself, floating on monopoly power? I hope not.

Changing time zones doesn’t help when you fly from one time zone to another, always either flight departure or arrival time in one time zone will be expressed in Google calendar as the time in the other time zone. The frustrating thing is that the airline/expedia email communicates the correct depart and arrival times in each time zone, and Google then CHANGES the correct time to another time in another time zone. That is shameful and has been complained about for years.

Same, I adjusted the time correctly in settings however calendar events that are sent out have incorrect times. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING! Please fix this issue or post how to fix it, the above post is NOT WORKING.

This does not work. I have saved the time zone in settings and also update it every time before I send out a calendar invite. The calendar still invites them to the wrong time approx 75% of the time.

Not sure if this is relevant, but when I add an appointment in Google Calendar, I can click Time zone next to the start and end date and time, and then select separate start and end time zones.

I checked my time zones, and they appear correct, but when I save google event invitations in my email, which also appear to be in the correct time zone, they save in another. Then, when I correct the time zone, the event times moves with it and I have to correct it back again.

I moved – a YEAR AGO – and updated my primary time zone then. Every time I set an appointment in my calendar, it shows as an hour later than it should be. I’ve “fixed” the issue multiple times (nothing to fix, but tried anyway) – using the above. I even got a new phone since then but it’s the Google calendar! Please.

I have a little bit of a different scenario. I have added my daughter’s school calendar into my “other calendars” all the school events show up 4 hours early. I checked the settings and they are correct and I’ve changed them anyway to “reset” and it still happens. All the other calendars I share are correct. Help.
