Through Mailchimp both marketing and transactional emails can be sent. Marketing emails are a form of direct marketing where we need permission to send the email to the recipient. Transactional emails don’t require the contact subscribing to receive the email. An example of a transactional email is an invoice whereas advising people of my upcoming or online Mailchimp classes would be considered marketing emails.
Finding transactional email classes
A contact recently asked where she could get Mailchimp transactional email training. My response is below.
Hi,
I don’t think you’ll find anyone of value providing training for Mailchimp transactional emails. It’s all documented at https://mailchimp.com/developer/tools/ and it’s a very simple (but powerful) service whereby an external application connects to Mailchimp via an API and gets Mailchimp to send transactional emails.
You can either code your own connection to the Mailchimp API or use code/an application that has already been coded. Mailchimp typically relies on external parties to create connections between their app and Mailchimp. An example is https://wordpress.org/plugins/wp-mail-smtp/ where you can use this plugin to use Mailchimp transactional with WordPress.
I hope this helps a bit.
