Mailchimp Header Size Guide

I often get asked in my Mailchimp classes what the dimensions of a Mailchimp email campaign header image should be. Below I address this question.

What is the Mailchimp Header

When referring to the header of an email campaign, most people are concerned with the area into which a logo is placed. Message headers (often called email headers or message header fields) are data added to an email message that specifies various delivery and technical data.

In this article I am referring to the place that people add a logo in a Mailchimp email campaign.

The Best Mailchimp Header Size

A Mailchimp email campaign is 600px wide. Your logo must therefore be a minimum of 600px wide. Your image can be a lot wider than 600px and Mailchimp will help you to reduce the image size if it is too wide.

As for the height of the header image, this is entirely up to you; there are no maximum nor minimum heights. I’ve noticed recently that many of the large organizations (that do alot of marketing research) are including their logos aligned to the left of the header and with a smaller height. The examples below show the trend towards logos that are smaller in height (the Uber logo area is 74px high).

Mailchimp Logo Dimensions Summary

In summary, keep your header image to a minimum of 600px wide. Keep in mind too that you must use a valid email image filetype.
