I’ve delivered Mailchimp training to hundreds of people both in public classes and as part of corporate sponsored training. As classes start I ask attendees why they are at training and what issues they particularly want to cover in the class. The following three are the most often cited reasons for people attending Mailchimp classes.
I haven’t used Mailchimp and just want to get going quickly
Most people find Mailchimp intuitive and simple to use. There are however a portion of people that prefer to attend training right from the start to make their email marketing journeys simpler.
We all have preferences in the way that we learn best and, for some people, attending a class as their first introduction to Mailchimp is most beneficial. Time too is a factor and many attendees find that attending training allows them to avoid spending extra time finding answers to their questions online (they can ask their questions in class).
There are therefore very good reasons for people to attend training before having used Mailchimp at all.
I want to learn to use Mailchimp more effectively
People want to get the most from their EDM however we are all ‘time poor’. Those that have managed to get up and going with Mailchimp by themselves often find that attending a training session can help them get even more from their email marketing efforts very quickly. Attending training can also help learn shortcuts and ways to become more effective with Mailchimp.
One of the most significant issues that people tend to have with Mailchimp is understanding how to use a single list and how to segment their lists effectively. Instead of spending hours trying to understand the concepts from online resources it’s far more beneficial to attend a short training session where it’s all explained in-person.
