The ‘All in One SEO Pack’ WordPress Plugin is very widely used and is an extremely simple solution to making any WordPress powered site SEO ‘friendly’. ‘All in One SEO Pack’ is the first Plugin I install on any WordPress site.
Double SEO with Theme Hybrid and All in One SEO
So, if we have the Hybrid theme SEO and ‘All in One SEO Pack’ options enabled we should have some bulletproof SEO right? Wrong! Unfortunately one has to be more careful when running two or more SEO enablers rather than just one.
An as example, suppose we have enabled Hybrid theme and ‘All in One SEO Pack’ to generate the HTML description meta element (in the <head> of the HTML document) then we’ll have two description meta elements in the HTML document. This in itself isn’t bad however Hybrid and ‘All in One SEO Pack’ generate different description meta text. If we therefore favour the text ‘All in One SEO Pack’ generates we lose control of which description meta text the Search Engines will use in the Search Engine Results Pages (SERPs).
Which SEO options to Choose
The SEO options which you choose for your WordPress install is really up to you. I would however recommend to enable only one set of SEO options. For example, on this site I disable all Hybrid SEO options and use ‘All in One SEO Pack’ for generating the meta.
Good luck and remember that with SEO it’s quality that matters and not necessarily quantity.
- To generate descriptions ‘automatically’ in All in One SEO Pack ensure the Autogenerate Descriptions option is checked.
- To disable Hybrid theme from generating meta go to Hybrid Settings -> Meta Settings and select or deselect as desired (if you aren’t certain then ensure that no Meta Setting options are checked).
