This Post is about WordPress Websites using the WordPress SEO Plugin by Joost de Valk (a.k.a. Yoast). More specifically it deals with the titles of Pages and Posts not displaying with seperators (sep) and or spaces or defined content. I’ve been getting very frustrated that, on some Websites, the title of Pages and Posts shows as it should e.g. in the default format of
%%title%% %%page%% %%sep%% %%sitename%%
however on other Websites the output is more like
e.g. Awesome WordPress WebsitesOrganicWeb instead of Awesome WordPress Websites | OrganicWeb.
I’ve just been configuring the WordPress SEO Plugin on a WordPress Website (using a Theme by WooThemes) and have at least realised that there is a workaround. There are probably ways of outputting the title with spaces and separators etc. but for those of us that are happy just to have the title output then:
- Log into your Website WordPress Dashboard.
- Go to SEO -> Titles & Metas.
- On the General tab, enable Force rewrite titles under Title settings.
- Click Save Settings.
You should now see the SEO title appear.
