I’ve blogged recently about my sadness of Mandrill being integrated into Mailchimp and the associated higher costs for small volume transactional email senders. I’ve moved from sending my WordPress emails with Mandrill to Amazon SES and have finally settled on Mailgun (with their 200 free daily transactional email sends).
Mailchimp have been good at communicating the various changes that are happening to Mandrill. This morning however I received the following email which raises a few questions (such as do I need to pay for a block of email every month to get the million monthly email credits?). I’m sure that Mailchimp will answer the various questions in due course. Here is the email I received.
If you already have a paid monthly Mailchimp account and merge it with an existing Mandrill account by April 27, your first million monthly Mandrill email credits will be free for a year.
The discount will be automatically applied when you merge your Mailchimp account with an existing Mandrill account following these instructions.
If you have questions about merging your accounts, please log in to your Mandrill account and click Support in your dashboard. We’ve made support available to all customers on free and paid accounts.
