Many studies have shown that the chance of people filling a form field increases dramatically when the first input field of a web form is automatically in focus. Just how do we get the cursor in a form field upon Webpage load? After all, forms are there for people to be fill.
How to use autofocus HTML5 with WordPress
With the new POPmember Membership Websites (similar to OptimizePress and Wishlist Member all combined and setup and hosted), for pre-launch the team needed a landing Page and wanted to offer special deals to those that signed-up pre-launch. The simple answer was to use a landing Page with a prominent Mailchimp linked sign-up form. So far quite simple but how to make the email input field automatically in focus when a visitor loaded the Page?
With HTML5, all that needed to be done was change the email field HTML from
<div id="email-layout"><span id="emailinput"> <input id="email" type="email" name="email" /> </span>
<div id="email-layout"><span id="emailinput"> <input id="email" type="email" name="email" autofocus/> </span>
That’s all. Initial A/B testing has shown an increase in conversions just through this simple change.
