Fix the Intense Debate Permissions Error

May 12, 2011 by Gary 6 Comments

Are you getting the error “You do not have sufficient permissions to access this page” after installing the Intense Debate Plugin and going to ‘Comments’ in your WordPress dashboard? Fortunately the fix is incredibly simple;

About Intense Debate

Intense Debate is an Online commenting service provided by Automattic, the same people as WordPress and BuddyPress. Intense Debate enhances the usual WordPress commenting options with helpful login options such as WordPress.com, Facebook, OpenID or Twitter login (as well as the usual Name and email address option). For comment protection there is the ever powerful Akismet comment spam filter and numerous other filters such as a whitelists and a ‘Profanity Filter’ (especially useful for schools, religious organizations, charities and other organizations that may want extra comment spam protection).

How to remove Intense Debate Permissions Problems

Are you ready for the worlds simplest resolution? No MySQL updates are needed nor any PHP or Javascript knowledge. All you need do after installing and activating the Intense Debate WordPress Plugin is, when logged in to your WordPress dashboard, click Settings then Intense Debate and login to Intense Debate.

As soon as you’ve logged in to Intense Debate then you’ll once again be able to access the comments section of your WordPress Website.

        Just found this article.

        I’m having this issue now and can’t figure out why. I followed the steps (re: settings, intense debate) but it’s still telling me that I don’t have permissions (and its my blog).

        Please advise if you’re able.

      Hi Kiki,
      Unfortunately for Intense Debate, with all the problems with the service, people are just moving to other commenting platforms such as just Disqus
