Just as the word smart started to become the new ubercool word, along comes super. Whilst the iphone may well be a smartphone, the Nexus One from Google is a ‘superphone’ and is apparently supercool (I can’t wait to get to demo one!). So, billions of dollars are being spent on smartgrids, smart surgical devices, smartmeters, smartdevices and so on whilst, quite frankly, smart is so uncool. The poor IEEE standards Association is just starting to get some standards in place for the multitude of smart ‘things’ and along comes the smart successor (i.e. super) which will create all sorts of new standards requirements ….
Or, is super just a new term for smart?
