Why does Word text look strange when pasted into Mailchimp?
First off, let’s understand why these formatting problems occur; Mailchimp (and email campaigns) are HTML just like a webpage. Microsoft Word however use their own language that outputs text and styles.
It therefore makes sense that merely pasting from Word won’t work in Mailchimp as a different language is used in the two.
How to clean Word content to paste into Mailchimp?
- Open your Microsoft Word document and copy the content you want in your campaign.
- Open your Mailchimp campaign text content box (or wherever else you want to paste the content).
- Click the ‘Paste from Rich Text Editor’ icon in the toolbar.
- Paste the content that you copied in step 1 above.
- Click OK.
That’s all there is to it.
I have followed these steps and the copy I paste from MS word shows up in my MC content. I then close and save but when I open up my template the text and formatting is gone.
Suggestions?
I am having the same problem. Took me days to create a drip campaign in Word and now I have to reformat everything…
I too have tried this. While some of the formatting is OK things like tables lose their formatting. The main reason one would use WORD is to take advantage of these types of formatting not available in Mailchimp. To me it makes MC somewhat of a light weight.
I did exactly what the directions state. Once pasted into my MC template the spacing is no longer single, the text is bolded and the font color and type is different. This is driving me crazy.
seems to more to it. I get msg “Because of your browser security settings, the editor is not able to access your clipboard data directly. You are required to paste it again in this window.
Please paste inside the following box using the keyboard (Ctrl/Cmd+V) and hit OK” which doesn’t copy image
@darth, please check your browser security settings or try a different browser
