One of the most widely used email readers, when it comes to desktop computers, is Microsoft Outlook. I often get asked in training how someone can get their Outlook contacts into their Mailchimp list.
Exporting contacts from Outlook
Copying contact details individually in Outlook and adding them as contacts into Mailchimp is an unnecessary waste of time. To import into Mailchimp we can either use an integration or import from a CSV, Microsoft Excel or TXT file. Integrations between Outlook and Mailchimp are limited in their functionality and compatibility with many versions of Outlook. A CSV import into Mailchimp is the simplest way to go and it is easy enough to export your contacts from Outlook to a CSV file.
To export your contacts from Outlook to a CSV file merely follow the Microsoft provided instructions.
Importing Outlook contacts into Mailchimp
You have your contacts in a CSV file now and so it is simple to import those contacts into your Mailchimp list. Just follow the instructions provided by Mailchimp.
A tip that you may find useful is, before importing into Mailchimp, open your CSV file in Excel and remove any columns of data that you don’t want to import into Mailchimp.
