Note: There is a new version of this article about how to add a telephone link in Mailchimp.
I’ve been asked a few time over the past few weeks how to add a link to a Mailchimp button so that the email campaign recipient may click to call. This is simple enough to do and the instructions are included below.
How to add a telephone hyperlink in Mailchimp
- Add a button content block to your campaign.
- Change the Button Text as required.
- Leave Link to as Web address.
- In the Web address (URL) field add tel:yournumber where yournumber is the telephone number you want people to call.
- Click Save & Close.
When recipients of your email campaign click the button they will be able to call you.
Note: If you are sending to an international audience then be sure to include your country dialling code in yournumber e.g. if you are in Australia then your entry will be like tel:+61412345678.

Hi Carey, I’m not aware that this functionality exists in HTML.
I spoke to an “agent” and they claim it doens’t report and after building a new campaign, it doesn’t show as a listed link – any thoughts or suggestions Gary?
