I was quoted recently in an Officeworks article about email marketing. It’s a great piece and well worth reading if you use, or are interested in, email marketing (no matter if you use Mailchimp, Constant Contact, Infusionsoft, AWeber or any other email marketing platform).
Email marketing should be quick and simple
I always try to communicate that email marketing shouldn’t take ages nor be complicated. If you have your end objective in mind and then create your subscriber segment and content to meet that objective then your campaign is sure to be a success (i.e. good open and click rates). I find that way too many large and small organisations send email campaigns without being clear about what they want to achieve from the communication.
Email campaigns should be about your subscribers
A further key takeaway from the article is to send content that your subscribers want, and expect, to see. If the content decision maker is a sixty year old male and your target market is 20 year old females then it is highly likely that the content will need to differ from what the 60 year old male would find appealing.
