Mailchimp doesn’t allow sending from Gmail

I received the following question today:

Hi Gary,
I happened to come across an article you have written after I received the Mailchimp Omnivore update. My question is does Mailchimp accept me to use my gmail address to send out emails? I have tried everything keep getting the same response. Should I setup an email address for my company?

Mailchimp notes that due to DMARC policies of free email providers, domains like yahoo.com, aol.com, and gmail.com can no longer be added to your verified domains. Furthermore, to be able to send a Mailchimp campaign from an email address, the email address must first be verified. Campaigns may not therefore be sent from Mailchimp using Gmail.

The solution is to use an email address that uses your own domain.

Would a paid G-suite account work? I can get a free Constant Contact email from my server but not sure if there would be a conflict. I’m currently using a free gmail account and I’ve been told that some campaigns wind up in spam. So, basically what is the best domain email to use? Thanks.

Yes, a paid G-Suite email address will work well as the sending address from Mailchimp.

We’re using a paid gmail account and getting a fraud alert when we send tests to ourselves. Our domain’s been verified and so has the email addresses. We’re concerned our customers are getting the fraud alert as well. Thoughts?

Where are you seeing the fraud alert?
