Eventbrite doesn’t actively promote events (yes it does show events that are available within Eventbrite itself but that’s about all). There are many ways to promote events including advertising online (e.g. Google Adwords), getting leads in Facebook or Linkedin (as well as advertising), using print advertising and many others. For me, Mailchimp has by far resulted in the highest conversion rate of all i.e. for the number of emails I’ve sent, this has resulted in far more sales than any other promotion.
So, how can we use Eventbrite and Mailchimp together to promote our events or training?
How to use Eventbrite with Mailchimp
Below I explain how these are achieved.
Use Mailchimp to send Eventbrite events to leads
The first step in using Mailchimp to market to your leads is to add your lead information to your Mailchimp list. Once your leads (subscribers) are in Mailchimp then there are two ways to create a campaign to advise your leads of your event.
Use the Eventbrite to Mailchimp Email Functionality
When in the Manage screen of your event in Eventbrite, you’ll be able to click Invite & Promote -> Email Invitations. Once clicked you’ll be able to select Use Mailchimp which will lead you to create a campaign in Mailchimp. The content of your event will automatically be populated in your Mailchimp campaign (be aware that you may need to first setup the Eventbrite integration in Mailchimp).
Unfortunately alot of manual styling will be needed to make the campaign look good. I therefore prefer the option below.
Add your Eventbrite content to a Mailchimp Campaign
Using the Eventbrite Invite & Promote -> Email Invitations as above has the advantage that the event content is carried to your Mailchimp campaign for you. Manually creating a campaign in Mailchimp and then adding your event information and a button, I think, looks far better.
I find that creating a new campaign in Mailchimp (or replicating an existing campaign) allows more styling and content flexibility which I like better.
Automatically get ticket-holders from Eventbrite to Mailchimp
By simply installing and configuring the Eventbrite Mailchimp Sync app your event attendees will automatically be added to your Mailchimp list. You can then easily send campaigns to attendees or, better yet, use Automation to create relevant email workflows. Please note that the people that will be added to your Mailchimp list are customers as they’ve registered for your event.
Be aware that Eventbrite does send various transaction emails such as event reminders to attendees so we don’t want to replicate these in Mailchimp.
In summary, Eventbrite saves masses of time for event organizers. Using Mailchimp to promote our events or to our attendees is a massive boost to our marketing efforts.
