Most of my Blog posts these days are about WordPress, SEO or related Internet services. I used to Blog alot about Management Theory and practice as this is something that really interests me. My Posts about the Theory of Constraints (TOC) and Management by Objectives (MBO) still get several hundred readers each month.
Over two years ago I mentioned the great service that my wife and I received at a Sydney Hotel (the Four Seasons Hotel) as the service (and Hotel) was exceptional. I often receive good service but exceptional service is far more rare and it’s definitely worth letting others know about the great service received (and I leave blogging about good service to an expert 😉 ).
Today an example of service that goes way beyond just good service was given by a Budget car rental employee and there wasn’t even the chance of an immediate sale from the good service. Let me explain …
I was to fetch my 90 year old/young grandmother from one of the domestic terminals at Sydney Airport (she and her boyfriend had been to Uluru/Ayres Rock for a few days). Unbeknownst to me, I was waiting for her at the wrong terminal. Time progressed but I then received a call from my grandmother. Unfortunately my grandmother is a bit hard-of-hearing and couldn’t make out what I was saying (I was trying to determine where in the airport to find her). She then handed the phone to a really helpful guy that worked for Budget in domestic terminal 3 who explained where she was.
What had transpired is that my grandmother was having problems retrieving voicemails from her phone and wanted to know if I’d been trying to call her. She approached the Budget counter where the helpful guy assisted her and helped her to call me.
Of course the Budget employee knew that he wasn’t going to get a sale but still went out of his way to be extremely helpful. This is an example of very good customer service!
I love it!! Well done – and thanks!
