For many reasons you may wish to export your Google Contacts to a spreadsheet. One reason, for example, may be to manipulate the contact data prior to importing the contacts into Mailchimp or Constant Contact (both Mailchimp and Constant Contact have integrations directly with Google Contacts/Gmail so the spreadsheet method described in the article may be superfluous to your needs).
The instructions below describe exporting to a CSV file which means that you’ll be able to open the exported file in most spreadsheet applications (e.g. Microsoft Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice etc.).
- Login to Google Contacts.
- Click More then Export…
- In the options that appear, select your preferences but be sure to select Outlook CSV format (for importing into Outlook or another application) under the heading Which export format?
- Click the Export button and your selected contacts will download to a file called contacts.csv
You may now open the downloaded file in the spreadsheet software or service of your choosing.
