Anti-Virus/Malware/Spyware/Online Security software is a necessity. There are many costly brands out there such as Norton, Bitdefender, Kaspersky and so on. How refreshing it is therefore to see a very influential Internet ‘heavyweight’ question the need for buying Online Security software such as McAfee. Well done to Matt Mullenweg from WordPress for being practical when stating, when referring to the McAfee paid for security software; ‘Modern versions of Windows include free tools like Defender which are just as good and appear to have less of a performance impact on the computer’.
As covered in previous posts there are some excellent free to install, use and update Anti-Virus/Malware/Online Security software with my favourites being AVG Free and Microsoft Security Essentials. There really is no excuse not to use Online Security software when it is very effective and free.
