I use BleachBit to delete data on my computers. BleachBit is free software for Windows, Linux, Apple Mac OSX and BlackBerry that removes identifying information from your chosen files in addition to removing files that aren’t needed on your computer and could lead to security issues. You are exposing your data to security breaches if you aren’t using BleachBit or similar software.
Most recently BleachBit has been getting attention as the software used by Hilary Clinton to delete emails from her server that have become a hot topic in the U.S. presidential race. Fox News interviewed Trey Gowdy, Republican congressman from South Carolina, who stated that the emails in question weren’t ‘just’ deleted but “they had them deleted so even God couldn’t read them”.
They didn’t just push the delete button, they had them deleted so even God couldn’t read them. Rep. Gowdy
First off, Gowdy’s comments illustrate just how good BleachBit is at doing what it’s meant to do. Secondly, unfortunately, Gowdy shows just how illiterate he is when it comes to even the basics of personal computer security; we should all take I.T. and online security seriously by using anti-malware software, security for our websites and using software such as BleachBit to protect ourselves against various security threats. After all, BleachBit is a tool that ‘doesn’t raise any red flags’ according to some computer security experts.
Gowdy really needs to attend a basic computer security course so he can learn how valuable and important software such as BleachBit are. Right now however you can download BleachBit for free and therefore be more secure.
