I use various monitors. For some reason my BenQ GW2760HS visible screen wasn’t at the edges of the monitor. What I mean is that there were quite large black borders between the physical edge of the screen and the viewable area. The visible screen should meet the edge of the physical monitor so the big black ‘gap’ was a problem. My Dell and Samsung monitors didn’t have this problem and I couldn’t easily find out how to fix the BenQ screen issue.
The PC on which I use the BenQ screen is a Dell Vostro with AMD graphics. Luckily it’s really simple to fix the screen dimension issue once you know the fix. I Googled and came across various fixes that recommended changing the HDMI cable but this wasn’t the problem in my case.
Here then is how to increase the viewable screen size of your monitor.
- Alternate mouse click on your Desktop.
- Click AMD Catalyst Control Center.
- In the Search field of the AMD Catalyst Control Center type Overscan and click on the returned result, Scaling Options.
- In the Underscan / Overscan slide selector, slide the selector to 0%.
- Click Apply.
You should now view the screen at full dimensions.
