How to remove the Callout in Google Maps

August 31, 2012 by Gary 2 Comments

Want to include / embed a map from Google Maps into your WordPress Site and want to get rid of that annoying white callout box? It’s easier than you think.

What is the Callout Box

In the embedded map above you’ll notice the white callout box (that never seems to display fully). Very few people want this irritating box to show on their Websites but want the map to show like the map below.

Steps to get rid of the Map Callout Box

Here is a quick tutorial to remove the callout:

  1. Get the embed code from Google Maps (click the link icon in Google Maps). Your code will look something like
Code snippet – HOW TO REMOVE THE CALLOUT IN GOOGLE MAPS – 1 on Snipplr

  2. Add &iwloc=near immediately after output=embed. Your code will now look something like
Code snippet – HOW TO REMOVE THE CALLOUT IN GOOGLE MAPS – 2 on Snipplr

  3. The callout is now removed so just embed the code into the HTML section of your Page or Post in WordPress.

Super simple! If you need assistance leave a comment below or contact me; I provide WordPress Services in Australia and everywhere else on this planet.
